Description

Here´s a colored sketch of what could be an awesome idea to have in "Worlds": a kaiju/mecha-war! Being a fan of Evangelion and this article of speculative kaiju biology, I thought it was needed. So far it is (like most of my other projects) only a rudimentary piece I don´t know how it´s going to develop, but I have a few ideas of what the possible story should have and include:
  • A bizarre, complicated plot with weird twists,
  • A dark story with a (kind of) happy ending (with the "happy" part perhaps not being how we imagine a typical happy ending),
  • Asskicking, beautiful scenes,
  • A sexy female character.

But I do have some more clearer ideas about the mechas and kaiju in the story:
Inspired by the article I mentioned, the Kaiju are a horrifically powerful and alien form of life: their bodies counteract the square-cube law via exotic physics, can produce/manipulate force-fields, have super-senses like percieving the bio-electric fields of all life on a planet, are more like hyper-complex geology than living meat, possess regeneration capabilities that borders on immortality, functions through a super-efficient metabolism based on nuclear processes, with their steaming Cherenkov-glowing blood being radioactive enough to destroy any habitat it contaminates. I have no idea yet of what the origin of the Kaiju should be, maybe they are the pets of transapients that wants to defeat the good guys.

And the good guys knowing what godly forces they are dealing with, have one crazy plan that might save them. The best weapon against super-monsters could be another set of super-monsters; so the good guys took the (still living) corpse-like remains of the first defeated kaiju, encased their bodies in cybernetic armor and "lobotomized" their brains with neurotech-control-interfaces. These kaiju have becomed K-Borg Units, controlled living "machines", designed to fight their own kind. As long their cybernetic seals are regularily maintained, these trapped giants will never regenerate enough to grow back their consciousness and self-control and bring their fury upon the good guys. Besides these hideous weapons, the good guys are also cultivating kaiju bodies, organs, and cells to develop other forms of K-Tech. Incorporating this badass super-biology into their own technology, the good guys might have an advantage and give their godlike enemies a real challenge.

There is already some text in the drawing explaing the scenes at the top, so now I go for describing the creature concepts and my ideas for them:

Remaelle is the first kaiju to fight the good guys. It is a human-based entity covered with bony segments, stegosaurus-plates and a parrot-like "mask". The creatures abilities include projecting force-field "walls", releasing bursts of "pushing" force-fields/"push-fields" from its palms, and can jump via anti-G organs in the feet (all three are common kaiju abilities), but its most notable characteristic is Remaelles glowing eyes that can fire explosive energy beams. After its defeat, Remaelle´s body was modified by the good guys to become K-Borg Unit 0.

Emmamus, the second giant, is a semi-humanoid lizard with rock-like armor plates and a knife for a forehead. It is much stronger (both in muscles and push-fields) and and faster than Remaelle, and the fin-like dorsal "push-jet" lets Emmamus to leap with so much force that it almost flies through the air like a giant cannonball. The creature is now converted into K-Borg Unit Alpha.

The third titan is Zeuphin, which is a morphologically modified splice of dolphin and lizard. It is an aquatic kaiju but its twelve flippers functions as anti-G wings, allowing it to soar through the sky like an airplane. The mantis-like eyes has a wide reception-range and can easily percieve the slightest shape/movement in the creatures field of sight. Its front claws, tail flukes, teeth and lower jaw have razor-sharp edges. All this make Zeuphin especially dangerous together with its temper; it is the most aggressive and violent opponent ever, tearing apart every structure in sight and takes the opportunity to kill any tiny creature near it (even when it isn´t directly a threat). Being adaptable to both aerial and aquatic habitats, it is a priority for the good guys to convert it into K-Borg Unit Beta, which will be the first K-Borg designed for aerial battle. But maybe even as a K-Borg Zeuphin still becomes a problem.

This walking mountain is Skeidsxa, the fourth intruder to come. This whale/ankylosaurid-inspired neogen life-form is with its huge size and tough armor compared to a giant tank or a mobile fortress. The slug-like belly produces waves of push-fields, making the creature glide forward at slow speed compared to the other kaiju (and those thick "tentacles" could also aid in locomotion). Attacks could be mountain-melting beams and biological bombs. I can also imagine that at one point during battle, Skeidsxa will open its mouth to reveal a nasty-looking appendage. I have no idea yet what weapon that possibly could be, it could be one huge nuke or a weird slime-hose. Other things about the anatomy I yet haven´t decided the final design of are the "eyes"; should they be triangular holes, undulating fins or a combination of both.

The fifth entity, Bohnotan, has a different and more nasty tactic as it descends from space to crash directly into the good guys head quarters. It is definitely a neogenic organism since its morphology is like a sea urchin with hollow spikes, one giant "eye", and a transparent whipping tail. So far, my concepts for the creature and its story aren´t developed yet. The red "eye" could be a force shield generator, protecting Bohnotan from the impact it want to cause. The pipe-like "spikes" could contain tentacles and propulsion organs. Perhaps what we see is merely a protective cocoon concealing the kaijus central "true" body. As for how the K-Borgs battle against it, I imagine that with aerial equipment the mechas will fly to Bohnotan deal with it before it even gets near the ground.

This is one of the most toughest of the lovecraftian forces the good guys has ever faced, JiLahn. This tripedal, swan-like neogen can fire from its "chest-bulb" a snake-like target-seeking energy beam that can easily overhelm any kaiju opponent, and has a push-jet that gives it much faster and graceful flight than Zeuphins. JiLahn has beautiful swan-like wings functioning as the beings force-field generators (Sadly the wings in their entirety couldnt fit on the paper, so I only drawed their basic morphological structure without feathers). Once it has the chance, JiLahn´s segmented and flexible beak opens wide to extrude a swelling "proboscis" filled with tentacles and a beak. The probisci´s tentacles will force up the K-Borgs mouth and the beak will force a blue slime into its throat infecting the K-Borg; corroding the technology and modifying the units biology with the conclusion that the Kaiju trapped in its restraining mecha-suit will be freed and given the chance to revenge on the good guys.I has also been thinking about what hands the creature should have; matter-slicing energy-whips, razorshap claws, or complex folding "hands" with shapeshifting slime-fingers (which is likely the idea I am going for).

The final being, Immis, is the most powerful of all the giants the good guys has faced. Falling from the sky like a blue meteorite, its form "melts" into a shapeless slime that immerses the good guys headquarters. Being a "grey goo"-type entity, Immis can infect both technology and biology and merge with it. Instead of destructive violence, the beings tactic is trying to become one with its targets, getting access to any information it can find in order to bring the good guys their last judgement.

This is all you need to know about what´s on this sketch. If you have any question about this project/story, you can ask in the comments if you want.

Just looking at this without knowing the details, I'm looking at the creatures themselves.  Fascinating and well done.
